    1. Group 5 PCs here as of yesterday (see 05-06 list)
    2. Weekend support to begin Sat., Feb. 25, 9-5
    3. CCE network problems solved for now (implications!)
    4. CMA carpet: 4 1/2 days of Tech Support
    5. Completing the rest of FY 05-06 projects (WM wireless, SGV and PRE Print Management, group 5 PCs
    6. Problem report of the month: Yahoo and JPG display problem

  2. Topics
    1. Beating Library Online
      • People at MCI were resetting the system clock to gain time (typically 3 hours/day)
      • We have removed the ability of the "all" account to change the system time to prevent this
      • This means that public PC clocks might wander a bit
      • We're testing a freeware program that would keep them synchronized with opening up the ability to change the clock

    3. More on Updates for Windows
      • Automatic Updating seems to work fine at SNO
      • We're looking at a better approach however, creating our own update server and choosing which updates to use.
      • We should have more info on this next month.
    4. XP for Public Internet PCs: problems solved
      • The issue was the Trend firewall, even though it was unconfigured
      • Rollout of XP should begin in about one month, using five to ten loaner PCs
    5. Next Year's PCs:
      • The List of 06-07 PCs
      • Shuttles, ADA issues and public Internet desks (eg: CMA)
      • Flat Screen Monitors (plan: 60 for staff, 18 for public)
      • LCD projectors for all large sites
      • 8 new ID Recall scanners
    6. Firefox ( to replace Mozilla on staff PCs over time
