    1. LAN Party Report
      • SNO 6/25 17 kids!
      • We did use the Wii (and DDR and Rock Band)
    2. Current projects bfore FY 08-09 begins: ADA stations (CMA, FAI, NOV, PRE) and new Webstar's PCs and monitors
    3. Other FY 08-09 purchasing to begin next week
    4. Printer replacments 2008-09:
      1. Stop ordering cartrdiges for LJ2550n models
      2. Most LJ4000/4050 are also going going gone
      3. We should swap around the old cartridges
      4. New printers: LJ P2015dn (ref desks), LJ CP3505 public color printers
    5. Windows XP "Not For Sale" any more, and what this means for us (not much right now)
    6. Office 2007 news: super slow rollout, currently only "as needed" to fix issues with 2002/XP
    7. Reminder: Civic Center Building Wireless from IST
      • F1W: doesn't work for VPN users right now
      • Cguest: U: Cguest P: GuestCOM

    1. Saving Some Energy:
      • IST implementing power management and forced nightly shutdowns on domain computers
      • Library staff seems to typically shut down their computers
      • Typical Power Management settings, and Power Management vs. Usability on public computers
      • Improving AutoStartup (and Shutdown)
        • Adding more PCs to the shutdown list? (e.g. Self Checks)
        • Tightening power settings on PCs a little?
        • Consolidating or virutalizing servers
        • Other ideas?
        • Energy Star labeling began with computer equipment in 1992
      • SFGate article on A Greener Glow for Computers
      • Montiors and printers: left on equals 1 to 5 watts/hour
      • PCs: left on equals 20 to 50 watts/hour
      • Newer equipment is better on low-power standby modes
    2. Suprlus, E-waste and Recycling update
      • PCs, LID and CID assets, useful stuff goes to County Surplus through Ruben (Shipping and Receiving)
      • Small stuff (mice, keyboards, telephones, answering machines, circuit boards) to Tech Support for e-waste disposal
      • Metal and plastic (no circuit boards) straight to recycling
