  1. Updates
     
    1. Bolinas has a new Express Lane Self Check.
    2. E-commerce is on the Express Lane Self Checks, eventually will also be on the 3M Self Checks.

    3. April 1 virus was a non-event.
    4. We'll be installing Microsoft's Silverlight on PCs for using Tutor.com.
    5. Legal Zoom (.com) may require Adobe Reader update to v.9.1.

    1. Internet Explorer 8.0 is out
      • First, IE 6.0 is out of date, please check your PCs and we'll upgrade to IE 7.0 as needed.
      • County IST has prohibited IE8, though we're in the testing phase here
      • See Microsoft's list of features in IE 8, or the
        Wikipedia article on IE 8.
      • Lots of enhancements to the tab system

        2. InPrivate Browsing
        3. Web Slices
        4. Search Suggestions
        5. Smart Screen Filter
      • Windows 7 uses only IE 8, but it's still under development, as it will have additional features
    2. Help Desk Software Test: Request Tracker
      • It's open source (free)
      • It can send mail when tickets are closed
      • We can set it up so that people can submit their own tickets

      • Fix for expired card problem in the works
      • Envisionware Task Force wrapping up for now
      • We will be looking at the remote printing module for laptop printing
    4. Windows Update: quick refresher
      • Ways in which Update launches (manually, automatically, check control panel)
      • To run manual update, either use link in Menu (usually called Microsoft update) or navigate directly to update.microsoft.com (in IE!)
      • Do the updates on staff machines (demo, use the Express button, we usually do critical updates)
      • Don't update frozen machines (Public Internet PCs) without thawing them
      • Windows Genuine Advantage Nofification — what it is and how to run through it
